Come and worship the Creator who alone is worthy of our praise

Here I Am to Worship

"Worthy of It All"

“Here I Am to Worship” has had a bit of a hiatus over the past six months; however, I have some more worship songs to share with you and am excited to return to fostering and inspiring a lifestyle of continually worshiping our Savior and King who is worthy of it all!

Two Sundays ago, God really struck my heart with a song that has been on repeat in my mind and heart, becoming an anthem for my week.  While I had heard and sung this song before, it hit me in a new, fresh, and powerful way.  While it is a short song with basic lyrics and a simple melody, most of it is taken straight from Scripture and invites us into the worship of heaven that is constantly taking place around the throne of God.
“Worthy of It All” by David Brymer and Ryan Hall starts with the picture we’re given in Revelation of all of heaven bowing before the Lamb of God and the twenty-four elders casting their golden crowns at His feet.  Then the chorus of the song crescendos to the reason for all creation’s worship and a declaration of praise we can join in on:  You are worthy of it all.

This is the cry and anthem that surrounds the throne without ceasing.  It’s a song that we can echo here on earth and join in the endless praise of God.  But before we can do so, we have to believe and mean the words that we say.  God will not accept hypocritical worship.  He is worthy of it all and deserves all the glory; therefore, He will not accept praise and worship from a mouth that says the right words but a heart that is divided.  So we must examine our hearts and humble ourselves before the Lord, making sure that we truly mean what we declare and ascribe to the God the glory, honor, and reverence due His name.

Finally, the bridge to this song is a powerful image and reminder that worship should be a constant part of our lives.  Worship should not be confined to Sunday morning or Wednesday night services at church, but rather, it should be continual and never ceasing.  The angels and saints in heaven never stop praising the Lord; therefore, we should start our eternity of worshiping God now, here on earth.

The bridge for this song is simple:  day and night, night and day let incense arise.  When I first heard this, I didn’t quite grasp the full meaning and felt that it was a bit repetitive.  However, as I’ve been reflecting, praying through, and worshipping God with this song over the past few weeks, the full picture and powerful message of this line hit me.

In the Old Testament, incense was a tangible picture of worship to the Lord.  The priests would burn it as an offering and it would represent the praise of the people.  In the New Testament, we are told that the incense in heaven is the prayers of the saints.  Therefore, the line “day and night, night and day let incense arise” is a prayer that worship would continue nonstop and that our communion and fellowship with God through prayer would be constant.  It is a prayer and a declaration of commitment that we would be a people, a church, and an individual son or daughter of God who would lift up a song of praise and a prayer of thanksgiving day and night without ceasing.

Are you ready and willing to commit to that?  Is that a prayer you want to pray and ask God to make true in your life?

God is worthy of it all.  He deserves all the glory.  Throughout all eternity He will be worshipped and adored; therefore, let’s start joining in the praise of heaven now.  Let’s let our incense arise and mingle with our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world to make a sweet smelling aroma for our King that would continue day and night.  May this song be a heart cry, a prayer, and a life anthem as we commit and devote ourselves to a lifestyle of worship.  Here’s “Worthy of It All” by David Brymer and Ryan Hall.
"Worthy of It All"
by David Brymer and Ryan Hall

All the saints and angels
Bow before Your throne

All the elders cast
Their crowns before the Lamb of God and sing

You are worthy of it all,
You are worthy of it all

For from You are all things,
And to You are all things,
You deserve the glory

Day and night, night and day,
Let incense arise

Day and night, night and day,
Let incense arise
