Come and worship the Creator who alone is worthy of our praise

Here I Am to Worship

Worship Set #14 - "So Will I"

5/27/2020

Picture
Following along the same vein as last week’s song, today we’re going to focus on a beautiful story song that will rouse our hearts to worship our great Creator and Savior.
“So Will I” by Hillsong Worship is rich in poetry, imagery, and symbolism.  It’s a song that we can sing when our heart is downcast and we need reminders to worship God.  Throughout this story song, we are pointed to creation and the fact that the whole earth is declaring the praises of God, so how can we not praise Him too?  When things seem dark and God seems distant, a simple review of creation, history, and God’s heart reminds us that we have so much to be grateful for and so many reasons to sing.

While this song can be used in cooperate worship, it is more of a call to inward reflection.  It’s a deep, personal prayer to the Lord.  Therefore, when you hear it, let it wash over you and become a message of hope to your soul, a point of prayer in your heart, and eventually an anthem for your life.  This is a song that we should never just sing because our worship leader is singing it.  It is a prayer of worship that we should hear first, digest and process what is means to us, and then join in heartfelt worship to our King.

While there are so many wonderful lyrics to this complex song, my favorite section is at the end because it talks about God’s great sacrifice for us and then our call to go out and love people as He did.  In this song, the symbolism of the number billion is used in many different ways.  However, at the end of the song the reference to “eight billion different ways” is not symbolic but specifically referring to the population of the world (7.8 billion) and that Christ died for each person.  Therefore, we are called to love them like He did.

I pray that this song deeply touches and ministers to you.  May you be challenged to worship God as creation does and love people as Jesus did.  Here’s “So Will I” by Hillsong Worship.
"So Will I (100 Billion X)"
by Hillsong Worship

God of creation

There at the start
Before the beginning of time

With no point of reference

You spoke to the dark
And fleshed out the wonder of light

And as You speak

A hundred billion galaxies are born
In the vapor of Your breath the planets form
If the stars were made to worship so will I

I can see Your heart in everything You've made

Every burning star
A signal fire of grace
If creation sings Your praises so will I

God of Your promise

You don't speak in vain
No syllable empty or void

For once You have spoken

All nature and science
Follow the sound of Your voice

And as You speak

A hundred billion creatures catch Your breath
Evolving in pursuit of what You said
If it all reveals Your nature so will I

I can see Your heart in everything You say

Every painted sky
A canvas of Your grace
If creation still obeys You so will I
So will I
So will I

If the stars were made to worship so will I

If the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exists to lift You high so will I

If the wind goes where You send it so will I

If the rocks cry out in silence so will I
If the sum of all our praises still falls shy
Then we'll sing again a hundred billion times

God of salvation

You chased down my heart
Through all of my failure and pride

On a hill You created

The light of the world
Abandoned in darkness to die

And as You speak

A hundred billion failures disappear
Where You lost Your life so I could find it here
If You left the grave behind You so will I

I can see Your heart in everything You've done

Every part designed in a work of art called love
If You gladly chose surrender so will I

I can see Your heart

Eight billion different ways
Every precious one
A child You died to save

If You gave Your life to love them so will I

Like You would again a hundred billion times
But what measure could amount to Your desire
You're the One who never leaves the one behind
