Worship Set #14 - "King of Kings"5/13/2020 While many things may seem to be falling apart and on hold, the Church has been growing during this global pandemic in ways that haven’t been seen in years. While it may seem like the Church is closed since the buildings are mostly empty, God is working through His Church in mighty ways. As the people of God lean into the Spirit of God and shine brightly during this season, many are coming to the truth. The Lord is working and moving through His Church, and the gospel is spreading during this time of crisis. In light of all this, it is appropriate that our worship song for today focuses on the history and purpose of the Body of Christ. “King of Kings” by Hillsong Worship harkens back to the timeless style of the hymns. Written in typical hymn fashion, this song includes three verse and a powerful chorus. It’s a song celebrating the Gospel and of tracing the history of the Church with a rousing chorus of worship, giving God the glory for all that He has done. While a simple song, “King of Kings” is powerful in the way that it looks through history at the power of the cross and then looks forward and reminds us that the Gospel will forever be unstoppable because of the power of the blood of Christ. However, despite the great verses, my favorite part is the chorus which lifts an anthem of praise and confirms the importance of all three persons of the Trinity. “Praise the Father Praise the Son Praise the Spirit three in One God of glory Majesty Praise forever to the King of Kings” While many things that we see through the news and circumstances around us seem depressing and discouraging, I hope and pray that this song will remind you that God is still working in and through the Church. The God we serve is moving in ways that we may not see; however, if we hold fast to the faith and keep our eyes on our King, our spirits will be lifted and God may show us the work He is doing and our part in it. Therefore, may this worship song shift your perspective and fill you with bold faith as we sing and celebrate the history and future of the Church and give God all the glory. Here’s “King of Kings” by Hillsong Worship. "King of Kings" by Hillsong Worship In the darkness, we were waiting Without hope, without light 'Til from Heaven You came running There was mercy in Your eyes To fulfill the law and prophets To a virgin came the Word From a throne of endless glory To a cradle in the dirt Praise the Father, praise the Son Praise the Spirit, three in one God of glory, Majesty Praise forever to the King of Kings To reveal the kingdom coming And to reconcile the lost To redeem the whole creation You did not despise the cross For even in Your suffering You saw to the other side Knowing this was our salvation Jesus for our sake You died Praise the Father, praise the Son Praise the Spirit, three in one God of glory, Majesty Praise forever to the King of Kings And the morning that You rose All of Heaven held its breath 'Til that stone was moved for good For the Lamb had conquered death And the dead rose from their tombs And the angels stood in awe For the souls of all who'd come To the Father are restored And the church of Christ was born Then the Spirit lit the flame Now this gospel truth of old Shall not kneel, shall not faint By His blood and in His name In His freedom I am free For the love of Jesus Christ Who has resurrected me Praise the Father, praise the Son Praise the Spirit, three in one God of glory, Majesty Praise forever to the King of Kings Praise forever to the King of Kings
