"Grace to Grace"7/23/2018 This song has been circling around in my head for the last week or so. While it hasn’t always been a favorite of mine, God really impressed it upon my heart recently. The most powerful part (and my favorite!) is the chorus: How wonderful, how glorious My Savior’s scars, victorious My chains are gone, my debt is paid From death to life and grace to grace It’s an anthem, a declaration of reverence, praise, thanksgiving, and awe. And I believe that accurately embodies what our heart’s cry ought to be. Jesus didn’t die for nothing. His journey to Calvary was long, painful, and scaring. It was brutal, ugly, and grim. However, because of the resurrection, those scars are now a reminder of victory, of grace, and of beauty. So yes! How wonderful, how glorious are my Savior’s scars, victorious! Therefore, let’s join this declaration of praise and worship God for what He chose to do for us. Jesus didn’t have to go through Calvary; He didn’t need to experience death. He was (and is) God! But because of His great love for us and out of obedience to the Father, He chose to embrace it for us. For me. For you. Let us not forget the beauty of our Savior’s scars, but let us praise the Lord because He has raised us from death to life and from grace to grace. When I see that cross, I see freedom
When I see that grave, I'll see Jesus And from death to life, I will sing Your praise In the wonder of Your grace How my soul will sing Your praise In the wonder of Your grace How my soul will sing Your praise
