Christ is Born!12/25/2017 The longed for, long awaited day has arrived. Merry Christmas, everyone! It’s Christmas Day! The presents have probably already been opened and sounds of joy, squeals if there are children involved, and thanks have filled the home. But now as the tissue paper settles and the new gifts get neatly arranged, it’s time to take a moment and remember why we celebrate Christmas. The world is lost during this holiday and many adults do not see the need or purpose behind this rushed, festive filled season. However, as believers we know the Reason behind the season. So let us, therefore, be careful not to let it pass by unnoticed or unacknowledged this Christmas Day. The Reason for the season is Jesus’ birth. He is the greatest Gift ever given. Sent by God to become like the ones He created, the Perfect One stepped down into time and took on human flesh and became one of us. Emmanuel—God with us. Jesus willingly left His place of power, glory, splendor, and majesty to become the baby of two inexperienced young people. He grew up and followed in His father’s footsteps and became a carpenter. Yet the greatest building project He was destined to complete was still ahead of Him. The reason He came was to build a bridge of reconciliation between sinful man and perfect God. So, He left His carpentry shop and set out to complete this massive project which required sacrifice, unconditional love, and a perfect life. Yet despite the high costs, Jesus Christ completed that divine bridge on the cross, forever giving us a way to the Father. And this is what Christmas is all about. For everything started in that humble manger in Bethlehem. As I contemplate and ponder what to write that adequately conveys the importance, celebration, wonder, and joy this should bring to us, I’m at a loss for words. There’s so much that could be said and so many different ways to say it. However, instead of writing my thoughts and ideas down, I’ll point you to the Savior and ask you to worship Him this Christmas. Because of the manger everything has changed. Because of Christmas we have eternal hope. Why? Because Christ is born! Therefore: "We lift our songs of praise to Thee Redeeming love has set us free..."
