Are You Ready for Christmas?

I know...you're probably thinking, It's not even Thanksgiving yet!  However, as you may have noticed, the retail industry is gearing up for Christmas because it is just around the corner.  So as you see the Christmas decor when you're going about your errands, don't just tune it out and try to focus on Thanksgiving, but rather think of those who may not get the chance to experience and enjoy this blessed holiday.  And while you're think about it, why not do something too?
Samaritan's Purse orchestrates Operation Christmas Child--a ministry to give impoverished children around the world a Christmas gift.  So as the Christmas season approaches, this is a great way to give a little something to a child in need.  While the receivers of these festively wrapped shoe boxes are not necessarily orphans, they are children in poverty with many needs.  So by showing them the love of Christ and giving them possibly their very first Christmas gift ever, opens the door of their hearts to the gospel.

In America, we have been blessed with so much, but most people around the world are not so fortunate.  Many don’t have the simple luxury of running water or flush-able toilets.  And the children in these underdeveloped countries don’t receive gifts or toys.  Therefore, as we prepare for the celebration of Christ’s birth, let’s take time to give of our surplus some simple gifts to the children who have nothing.

National shoe box collection week is NOVEMBER 14-21.  So to learn more about Operation Christmas Child and/or how to pack a shoe box, please visit Samaritan's Purse website here and discover how you can get involved in impacting children around the world with a simple, gift laden shoe box.

Guest Post ~ When Stories Collide
Stories are strange things. Because it isn't the big, important people who are usually the main characters; it's not the sunny, lovely days that move the story along. It's the little people who become the heroes. It's the disasters that cause the quest.  Read more
