God Will Multiply5/19/2018 Have you ever noticed the fine line between trust and stupidity? Or have you wondered at the sometimes vague divide between walking in wisdom and faith? Our topic lately has been generosity and the fact that God loves a cheerful giver. But while we’re encouraged to give generously to the work of the Lord, we’re also commanded to be wise stewards of the resources God has given us. So how do we balance the two? It would not be wise to give everything to God’s work, but at the same time, we cannot be a cheerful giver if we hoard all that we’ve been entrusted. This is a tricky balance to find and a conundrum that has no clear answer. We all have been entrusted with different amounts and unique things—gifts, talents, wealth, personalities, relationships—so our giving is not going to look the same. However, the important thing is that we give as God calls us to give, which will look different from person to person. So if He calls you to give up everything you have and become a missionary in a foreign country, do it. If He calls you to invest your vast wealth and grow it so that you can generously give to various ministries or establish your own, do it. In whatever way God calls you to give, do it with obedience, cheerfulness, generosity, and freedom. And remember this promise: “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” ~II Corinthians 9:10-11 God will provide for you and multiply your generosity if you give willingly and cheerfully. If you’re called to the mission field and need to leave everything you own behind, God will bless you and provide for you as you step out in faith and obedience to that calling. If, in obedience to God’s calling, you invest your resources with the purpose of growing the wealth God has given you to further bless others, God will multiply your principle and grow your investment. Whenever we obey God’s calling and surrender our lives to Him, God blesses, increases, multiplies, and enriches our lives beyond measure that we may again give generously and watch the cycle continue. Therefore, in whatever area of giving God is calling you to—giving of time, money, talents, service, wealth, skills, or gifting—give obediently, generously, cheerfully, and freely and see how God will multiply your gift and enrich your life. So where and how is God calling you to give? “The LORD will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.”
~Deuteronomy 28:12
