Come and worship the Creator who alone is worthy of our praise

Here I Am to Worship

Worship Set 7 - "O Praise the Name (Anastasis)"

10/9/2019

Continuing on in our focus on the person of Jesus Christ, and the worship due Him, today’s song feature is one that the rest of my family actually heard before me.  They were attending a church service in a different town than I was that particular Sunday, and this song was sung.  It deeply touched them and they came home telling me about.  However, it wasn’t until more recently that this song really resonated with me too.
I still haven’t heard this song sung in a church, but I plan on teaching it to my church soon.  Full of powerful imagery and deep lyrics, “O Praise the Name” by Hillsong Worship leads us through the story of Calvary and the resurrection and our subsequent hope.  The verses tell the narrative and the chorus is our response.

My favorite line in the whole song was hard to choose, but after further examination it is the end of the last verse:  “And I will rise among the saints, my gaze transfixed on Jesus’ face.”  While heaven will be glorious, our attention and focus will be completely centered on Jesus.  We won’t be able to peel our eyes away from the face of our Savior.  Oh, what a day that will be!

I pray that this will be your life goal, the deepest longing of your heart:  to see Jesus face to face.  And in the meantime, let us join together in singing, “O praise the name of the Lord our God!”  Here’s “O Praise the Name (Anastasis)” by Hillsong Worship.
"O Praise the Name (Anastasis)"
by Hillsong Worship

I cast my mind to Calvary

Where Jesus bled and died for me.
I see His wounds, His hands, His feet.
My Savior on that cursed tree

His body bound and drenched in tears

They laid Him down in Joseph's tomb.
The entrance sealed by heavy stone
Messiah still and all alone

O praise the name of the Lord our God

O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

Then on the third at break of dawn,

The Son of heaven rose again.
O trampled death where is your sting?
The angels roar for Christ the King

O praise the name of the Lord our God

O praise His name forever more
For endless days we will sing Your praise
Oh Lord, oh Lord our God

He shall return in robes of white,

The blazing Son shall pierce the night.
And I will rise among the saints,
My gaze transfixed on Jesus' face
