Come and worship the Creator who alone is worthy of our praise

Worship Set 7 - "Jesus"

10/2/2019

Welcome to a new month and new worship set!  Over the last two months, we’ve enjoyed focused worship celebrating God’s faithfulness and His power.  This month, God has really laid upon my heart anew the person and sacrifice of Jesus.  Who Jesus is and what He did for us is amazing, slightly unfathomable, and completely worship-inducing.  As we center our minds and remember Jesus’ sacrifice, our hearts should fill with awe, wonder, and heartfelt praise.
Therefore, even though we are six months away from Easter and Resurrection Sunday, let’s remind our hearts of the power of the cross.  And while the world is gearing up to celebrate darkness (Halloween), let’s worship the One who conquered death and Satan and rose victorious from the grave.

The first song we’ll focus on for this set is “Jesus” by Chris Tomlin.  I’ve loved this song since it first came out in 2016.  It so beautifully summarizes all that Jesus did and is.  Taking truths from both the Old and New Testaments and weaving them together in a seamless anthem of worship and creed, this song holds many truths and reminders for us as we remember who Jesus is.

My favorite line in this song is in the chorus:  “Who walks on the water, Who speaks to the sea, Who stands in the fire beside me.  He roars like a lion, He bled as a Lamb, He carries my healing in His hands.  Jesus.”

There is so much we could ponder and mediate upon as we think about the life of Jesus.  And as we consider and dwell upon who Jesus is and what He’s done for us, we will naturally break out into heartfelt worship of gratitude, wonder, and amazement.  So I pray that this song by Chris Tomlin sets your heart in the right place and gets you thinking and focusing on the person and nature of our risen Savior, Jesus Christ.  Here’s “Jesus” by Chris Tomlin.
"Jesus"
by Chris Tomlin

There is a truth older than the ages

There is a promise of things yet to come
There is one born for our salvation
Jesus

There is a light that overwhelms the darkness

There is a kingdom that forever reigns
There is freedom from the chains that bind us
Jesus, Jesus

Who walks on the waters

Who speaks to the sea
Who stands in the fire beside me
He roars like a lion
He bled as the Lamb
He carries my healing in His hands
Jesus

There is a name I call in times of trouble

There is a song that comforts in the night
There is a voice that calms the storm that rages
He is Jesus, Jesus

Who walks on the waters

Who speaks to the sea
Who stands in the fire beside me
He roars like a lion
He bled as the Lamb
He carries my healing in His hands

Messiah

My Savior
There is power in Your name

You're my rock and my Redeemer

There is power in Your name
In Your name

You walks on the waters

You speaks to the sea
You stands in the fire beside me
You roars like a lion
You bled as the Lamb
You carries my healing in Your hands
Jesus, there is no one like You
Jesus, there is no one like You
