Worship Set 5 - "Great Is Thy Faithfulness"

Some songs are classics.  They have withstood the test of time and are still around after over a hundred years.  Today’s song is one of these timeless hymns.  We could not do a worship set centered on God’s faithfulness and not highlight “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” by Thomas Chisholm and William Runyan.

​Written in ­­­­­1923, this song went fairly unknown for many years until George Beverly Shea made it famous among the Billy Graham Crusades.  Now, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” is a classic and a favorite for many, myself included.  This hymn carries great truth and comforting promises straight from Scripture.  It can be a prayer, an anthem, or a declaration of faith just depending on the frame of mind and heart that you’re singing it from. 
 
This song holds a lot of good memories for me.  I have sung and declared it alongside many of my closest friends and in a room full of strong believers from across the country.  Even though there are so many great parts to this song, my favorite line is “great is thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.” 
 
At the end of the day this is the power punch.  God is faithful to us through all the seasons of life, the ups and downs, highs and lows.  He’s faithful in the good times and the bad; when we feel His presence and when He may seem absent.  He is faithful.  And this is reason to sing and rejoice!
