Come and worship the Creator who alone is worthy of our praise

Here I Am to Worship

Worship Set 4 - "Cannons"

7/17/2019

Picture
Psalm 19:1-4a states, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.  Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.  There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.  Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.”
Here the psalmist is painting a picture and giving us the idea that the heavens are God’s symphony, a symphony of praise declaring His glory to the world and all who will listen.  It is a beautiful picture and one that should inspire praise and worship within us.  For if the stars of heaven are singing the praises of God, then shouldn’t we?  If the galaxies are declaring His glory, then shouldn’t we speak up?

Phil Wickham eloquently articulates this thought processes in his song “Cannons.”  Containing vivid imagery and beautifully restating Psalm 19:1-4, this song is powerful as it encourages us to sing praises to our God.  To give Him the glory due His name and worship Him for who He is.

It’s hard to say what my favorite line is, but if pressed I’d have to say it would be this line from the chorus, “I’m so unworthy, but still You love me, forever my heart, will sing of how great You are.”  May that be our hearts cry today and always!  Here’s “Cannons” by Phil Wickham.
"Cannons"
by Phil Wickham

It's falling from the clouds

A strange and lovely sound
I hear it in the thunder and rain
It's ringing in the skies
Like cannons in the night
The music of the universe plays

You are holy great and mighty

The moon and the stars declare who You are
I'm so unworthy, but still You love me
Forever my heart will sing of how great You are

Beautiful and free

Song of Galaxies
It's reaching far beyond the milky way
Let's join in with the sound
C'mon let's sing it loud
As the music of the universe plays

You are holy great and mighty
The moon and the stars declare who You are
I'm so unworthy, but still You love me
Forever my heart will sing of how great You are

All glory, honor, power is Yours amen

All glory, honor, power is Yours amen
All glory, honor, power is Yours forever amen
