Worship Set 2 - "No Longer I"5/15/2019 Hymns are classic. They are full of deep theological truth and have stood the test of time. However, depending on what type of church you go to, hymns can sometimes feel old fashioned and not terribly relevant to the current musical style. Nevertheless, the truth they contain is still rich and deep. So I love it when song writers combine solid hymns with modern music. They give the hymns new life with a fresh bridge or chorus or even weaving them together with newer songs. “No Longer I” by Matt Redman is one of these songs. Redman beautifully reworks a classic hymn by adding a moving chorus and a powerful bridge, making this song such a wonderful blend of timeless truth and heartfelt declaration. My favorite line is the bridge which is repeated over and over as a personal anthem. The lyrics are taking right from Paul in his letter to the Galatians, “It is no longer I. It is Christ who lives in me.” This is such a powerful statement, and I’m so excited that we can now proclaim both to the Lord in our worship and to ourselves this life changing declaration. Since leading this song in my church, I’ve had several people give me feedback about how much they love this song. So I pray that God uses this powerful worship song to revitalize your worship and put a new song in your heart. Here’s “No Longer I” by Matt Redman. "No Longer I" by Ian Stephen Yates / Matt Redman / Sam Blake At the cross, at the cross Where I first saw the light And the burden of my soul rolled away It was there by faith I received my sight Now no longer I but Christ in me I will run to the cross Where You opened up my eyes I will sing of the love that saved me I will bow in the place Where Your death became my life I will run, I will run to the cross O how endless the hope O how empty the grave And the joy of a stone rolled away It is there by grace I am raised to life Now no longer I but Christ in me I will run to the cross Where You opened up my eyes I will sing of the love that saved me I will bow in the place Where Your death became my life I will run, I will run to the cross Yes, I will run, I will run to the cross It is no longer I It is Christ who lives in me Christ who lives in me Christ who lives in me It's Christ It is no longer I It is Christ who lives in me Christ who lives in me Christ who lives in me It's Christ, it's Christ It is no longer I It is Christ who lives in me Christ who lives in me Christ who lives in me At the cross, at the cross Where I first saw the light And the burden of my soul rolled away It was there by faith I received my sight Now no longer I but Christ in me
