As we march forward into the new year and make our new year resolutions and goals, let’s make some goals for our spiritual life also. Let’s renew our purpose and commitment to Christ. Let’s review and remind ourselves what a surrendered life to God looks like. And as we do this, the natural outpouring should be praise. Praise for all that God has done for us and worship as a sacrifice and offering of surrender. To help us do this, I have a brand new song to share with you today. This song was first released on New Year’s Day in a stadium filled with over 65,000 young adults ages 18-25. And as the sound of their combined voices joined together to sing this anthem over the new year, it touched my heart and how it must have touched the heart of God! “Christ Be Magnified” by Cody Carnes and Cory Ashbury is a powerful anthem for the church and for the individual Christian. It is a prayer and a decree, both to God and to ourselves, that all creation is magnifying God and so will we. The chorus is a prayer and cry of surrender while the bridge is a powerful decree that no matter what life throws our way, we will stay true to our calling and cry of: “O Christ be magnified Let His praise arise Christ be magnified in me O Christ be magnified From the alter of my life Christ be magnified in me.” I pray that this song touches and blesses your heart as much as it did mine. And that the words and messages contained in it will become your heart’s cry and anthem in 2020. Here’s “Christ Be Magnified” by Cody Carnes and Cory Ashbury. "Christ Be Magnified" by Cody Carnes and Cory Ashbury Were creation suddenly articulate With a thousand tongues to lift one cry Then from north to south and east to west We’d hear "Christ be magnified!" Were the whole earth echoing His eminence His name would burst from sea and sky From rivers to the mountaintops We’d hear "Christ be magnified!" O Christ be magnified Let His praise arise Christ be magnified in me O Christ be magnified From the altar of my life Christ be magnified in me When every creature finds its inmost melody And every human heart its native cry Oh then in one enraptured hymn of praise We’ll sing "Christ be magnified!" O Christ be magnified Let His praise arise Christ be magnified in me O Christ be magnified From the altar of my life Christ be magnified in me I won’t bow to idols I’ll stand strong and worship You If it puts me in the fire I’ll rejoice ‘cause You’re there too I won’t be formed by feelings I hold fast to what is true If the cross brings transformation Then I’ll be crucified with You 'Cause death is just the doorway Into resurrection life If I join You in Your sufferings Then I’ll join You when You rise And when You return in glory With all the angels and the saints My heart will still be singing And my song will be the same: O Christ be magnified Let His praise arise Christ be magnified in me O Christ be magnified From the altar of my life Christ be magnified in me
