"Great Is Thy Faithfulness"

There has been a bit of an absence on this section of the blog, but that’s because Mondays have been filled with Christmas and New Year’s Day.  However, now that the festivities and holidays are over, we’re jumping back into our usual posting schedule, which means that today brings you a new song feature on Here I Am to Worship.
As we begin the New Year, our hearts can be filled with excitement, anxiety, or even terror as we look forward to what the future holds or stress over the unknown.  However, one of the most important things we can do at the end of one year and beginning of the next is to remember God’s faithfulness.  Bring to mind all the things that He has done, the ways in which He’s seen us through our difficulties, and how He has remained faithful throughout the year.  And as we remember and celebrate His faithfulness, it calms our heart and encourages our spirit, reminding us that we can trust an unknown future to a known God.  Praise the Lord!

Thinking and pondering God’s steadfast faithfulness brings to mind the timeless hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”  This hymn, written over ninety years ago by the godly Thomas Chisholm, is full of great truths, powerful anthems, and much needed reminders that God is faithful through the good times and the bad, in each season of life He is good and He is constant, and that no matter how we feel or what is happening in the world, His love and faithfulness will never end.  What an amazing promise and truth!  So let us worship our faithful God with this song and meditate on these rich truths that can encourage our soul.
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided--
    “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided--
    “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided--
    “Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
