Here I Am to Worship

God, You're So Good

As we wrap up our worship focus of God’s faithfulness, I want to share with you a beautiful retake on a classic chorus.  “God, You’re So Good” was originally written by Travis Green and became popular during the Jesus movement.  This was a time in Christian music when songs were simplified and contained choruses that were catchy and easy to remember.  Song writers were moving away from the hymn style and structure and were creating short, easily learned melodies and lyrics.
Move forward a couple decades to present day, and we’re starting to go back to the hymn structure in our worship songs.  Writers are starting to put more lyrics and build more verses around powerful choruses and bridges.  One of the beautiful things about this recent shift in Christian song writing is that modern song writers are taking the beautiful choruses from decades before and breathing new life in them with added verses and bridges.

This is true with the version of “God, You’re So Good” I am going to share with you today.  The writers at Passion Music have taken a simple chorus that speaks truth to ourselves as we sing it, reminding us of God’s faithfulness and goodness to us, and have taken this song to a new level.  They have written beautiful new verses that remind of what God did for us and why He is good.  They have written a powerful bridge that becomes an anthem for our soul, a declaration of our new status in Christ all because of God’s goodness.  It is truly a God-inspired song!

God has used this song to deeply bless and touch me with the power of His goodness and faithfulness.  It is my prayer that is also ministers to you and gives you a new anthem to sing when you doubt God’s goodness or question His faithfulness.  Life gets difficult and sometimes it is hard to see the goodness of God in the situation we’re in.  But if we cast our minds and hearts back to what God has already done for us, we can have hope and faith for what He is doing for us and in us right now.  So be encouraged and blessed by this new version of “God, You’re So Good.”

Amazing love

That welcomes me
The kindness of mercy
That bought with blood, wholeheartedly
My soul undeserving

God, You're so good

Oh God, You're so good
God, You're so good
You're so good to me

Behold the cross

Age to age
And hour by hour
The dead are raised, the sinner saved
The work of Your power

God, You're so good

God, You're so good
God, You're so good
You're so good to me

I am blessed, I am called
I am healed, I am whole
I am saved in Jesus' name

Highly favored, anointed

Filled with Your power
For the glory of Jesus' name

And should this life
Bring suffering
Lord, I will remember
What Calvary has bought for me
Both now and forever

God, You're so good

God, You're so good
God, You're so good
You're so good to me
