With Humble Gratitude

It’s the morning after Thanksgiving, and I woke up with a humble, grateful heart. Baby and husband are peacefully sleeping as I sit and write under a heated blanket with hot coffee and a light dusting of snow outside. The older I get and the fuller life becomes, the more I am awed, humbled and grateful for the simple things.

Grateful to God for…

• A warm house
• A full refrigerator
• A clean kitchen
• A sleeping baby
• A loving husband 
• More clothes than I need
• Family both near and far who love and care for me
• A church family that has invested in my life
• A job I love
• Friendships that span many miles
• And the list goes on… 

I am reminded of Matt Redman’s inspired song, “10,000 Reasons”:

The sun comes up it's a new day dawning
It's time to sing Your song again
Whatever may pass and whatever lies before me
Let me be singing when the evening comes

Bless the Lord oh my soul, oh my soul

So today, before you rush out and about Christmas shopping or decorating, take a moment and continue to let Thanksgiving have it’s moment by filling your heart with gratitude to God for things in your life, both big and small. Because no matter how insignifant an aspect of your life may seem, it’s all a gift from a loving Father.

Therefore, in humility, let us give thanks.
