Are You Ready for Christmas?10/22/2016 I know...you're probably thinking, It's not even Thanksgiving yet! However, as you may have noticed, the retail industry is gearing up for Christmas because it is just around the corner. So as you see the Christmas decor when you're going about your errands, don't just tune it out and try to focus on Thanksgiving, but rather think of those who may not get the chance to experience and enjoy this blessed holiday. And while you're think about it, why not do something too?

Two-hundred and forty years ago, our Founding Fathers penned and affixed their names to a document that freed a people and ushered in a new chapter to world history. And now, as we look back and celebrate the founding of this great nation, we are grateful for the courage and bravery these men expressed when they declared:

How could a nation with such a strong, sturdy foundation begin to slide downward so quickly? And, more importantly, what spiritual lessons can we learn from the state of our Union? He is Not Here...He is Risen!3/27/2016 On this blessed day, let’s put ourselves in Mary Magdalene’s shoes as she came upon the empty grave that spring morning so many years ago. Can you imagine her surprise when she rounded the last corner and saw the stone already rolled away?! Or how do you think Peter was feeling when he ran into the tomb and found the linen cloths empty?! And can you picture Mary’s joy and amazement when she discovered that the man talking with her in the garden was the risen Christ?!
The Cup Set Before Him3/24/2016 The twenty-seventh of this month, this coming Sunday, marks this year’s remembrance of the greatest day in the history of mankind—the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And as Christians, we give Resurrection Sunday its due celebration and recognition. However, do we truly consider and grasp the enormity of what Christ did for us, and do we fully recognize the anguish He suffered to bring about our salvation? Are we guilty of diminishing, through lack of acknowledgement and appreciation, the extreme sacrifice our Savior made to reconcile us with God? I believe we are.
God's View on Love2/14/2016 L.O.V.E. Four little letters that when put together in that order, have so much meaning. We are constantly surrounded by this word as we go about our daily lives, whether it is spoken through the music played in the grocery store, broadcasted on TV and movies, or displayed by the many young couples milling around the mall. However, all these examples are the world’s shallow, fickle, and corrupted definition of one of the most powerful human emotions.

Only one did that for me" ~"How Many Kings" by Downhere Were They Ready for the Unexpected?12/24/2015 As we near the celebration of Christ’s birth our journey through the Christmas story continues, the next characters that come to mind are the good citizens of Bethlehem and the shepherds living out in the fields nearby. Were they ready for the strike of fame that was about to descend on their small town? Did they recognize the Christ child for who He is—the promised Messiah? And what were the thoughts of the shepherds as they witnessed the angelic chorus?
The Unrecognized "Royal" Couple12/18/2015 In our culture dominated by media and popular opinion, celebrities and royalty are lifted up and idolized. I remember a few years ago when every magazine was covering the wedding of William and Kate—the royal couple of England. Our world is obsessed with individuals and couples of fame and fortune, super stars and royals; however, there was one royal couple that the world completely missed. They were not pictured on the front page of The Bethlehem Times nor interviewed on national news; they were not welcomed with a parade or put up in a five star hotel; instead, they were turned out of the only inn available and sent to live in a dirty, cold, smelly, stable. They were royal not by right of birth nor surge of fame and popularity, but because of whom they raised—the King of kings.
Can you guess the couple I am referring to? Blessed Among Women12/15/2015 How apt were these words of Elizabeth! Mary, indeed, was blessed. She was chosen to be the mother of Israel’s promised Messiah! While just a humble peasant girl with no formal education, Mary was asked to do the impossible—carry and deliver the Son of God while yet a virgin—and as we saw last week, she did not question the Lord’s calling but obeyed and was honored to be called “mother” by the Creator of the world. So yes, blessed is she who believed the word of the Lord!

Eternal one stepped into time. God became man. Immanuel, God with us. The gravity of sacrifice displayed in the incarnation is beyond our finite comprehension. It’s like ants trying to follow computer coding; it’s impossible. However, for us to truly understand the significance and meaning of Christmas, we must ponder and try to grasp what God did so many years ago. The Story Begins12/7/2015 In the land of ancient Israel, after four hundred years of silence, God re-enters history in a big way. He sent an angel to visit two people, a man serving in the Holy of Holies and a teenage girl in Nazareth. Who was this man and girl, and of what importance do they have in the story of Christmas?
The Fullness of Time Has Come12/1/2015 As we enter into this season of Advent, the awe-inspiring realization that the Creator God lowered Himself and became a part of His creation through the person of Jesus Christ washes over me anew. But do we truly comprehend the significance of this historical event?

Let Us Remember9/11/2015 Today is a day of remembrance and reflection for our country. A time to remember lives lost, sacrifices made, and a war begun. On this day, fourteen years ago, terror struck America as three hijacked planes hurled into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. The attackers’ objective: terrorize the most powerful nation in the world and bring fear and devastation. They accomplished their mission and ignited the War on Terror. Since that fateful day in 2001, there have been many other terrorist attacks in America and around the world where innocent people have lost their lives and military personnel have sacrificed theirs.
